I used to get really bothered about page rank (ask Craig :-0)) but I have come to realise that it matters not. My traffic has hit record levels this week (on Landscape Juice) despite a drop from PR5 to PR4 three months ago.
It is all about 'juice' and keeping your site fluid and writing about relevant topics.
I cannot remember the exact phrase bit LJ came fifth out of just under one billion returns this week - something like 'garden reviews'.
Try and write something once a week (and don't make it an advert).
Hope that helps a bit.
Phil
Build a quality site and let page rank take care of itself.
I certainly agree with this Stuart.
For some reason - when you type in Sissinghurst TV, an old blog of mine comes out 6 of 16,500 on Google - this is bizarre - I'm sure it's all smoke and mirrors behind the google screens!
I have to agree with Phil, I don't think page rank is important for you at the moment.
If you do your own website can I suggest you test the pages, if it is done for you you need to do some serious a** kicking. Will email you.
On a more possitive note, from when I was doing websites search engines don't like descriptions or key words that are not relevant to the page, and penalise those who do this. While your description and keywords are relevant to the site they are not necessarily relevant to the page they are in. Especially keeping the key words relevant to the page should help to increase its 'relevance' in some search engines.
Things do move on but a general rule of thumb was that keywords should at least appear in the text of the page.
Just came back from a week family holiday in Whitby, (oh I needed this break so much so we stayed at the in laws house there).
Lots and lots of thank you for all of these ideas- seems like with all of them I will get there.
you are great guys
