"Katie's Greenhouse" is a small, family-run garden design and nursery business, providing a complete range of design and planting services. From our base in the New Forest, with our teams of friendly and reliable contractors, we have created many beautiful gardens throughout the southern counties. Katie, a keen gardener since age 4, trained as an ecologist/ botanist, completing her MPhil in Botany at Cambridge University. For many years, she worked as a botanical surveyor & conservation officer. After having her three boys, Katie returned to college to study horticulture & garden design. Following several requests for help from friends and neighbours, Katie started her garden design business in 2004. Katie has designed over 70 gardens, ranging from tiny, modern, urban “outdoor rooms” to extensive country gardens. She also designs commercial garden spaces and wildlife gardens. All Katie's designs have to be both beautiful and practical. As a plant specialist, she excels in finding plants that will thrive in the prevailing conditions - soil, aspect, pH, climate, etc., all the while taking care to meet the clients’ particular requirements and to give that “WOW” factor! Katie (and husband, Derek) construct many of the wooden components for gardens - bespoke compost bins, screens, pergola, etc. - and for the wildlife garden displays. On our small nursery, together with our boys, we grow a range of unusual perennial and exotic plants, as well as growing specific plants to order for garden designers and other clients.
