Depending on the finish that you require, you can have a bladed machine, or one like this, a flail model.

Not cheap though... would be wanting to have some SERIOUS work for it to justify nearly £2k on a mower...
Then you need something to tow it with - I know someone that has a machine similar to the one I link to (his has a Briggs engine and he tows it with a quad bike) - his verdict is it does the job well but is terribly, terribly heavy on fuel and extremely noisy in use.
Yay that's great thank you- will take a look
Try Northern Tool UK they do Swishers (~£1k + vat) and used to do Pedestian wide area DR Scouts machines.
Failing that try our local grounds care dealer - Richmonds Grounds Care (based not that far from you in Haslemere, SY). They, or their connected business, Charterhouse Machinery (Redexim) may be able to help or suggest elsewhere local.
If neither work, how about hiring Etesia AV85/88/95's (Atillia's) - Ride on brushcutter? We hire them regularly rather than own one that's not used enough. Fit in van, good fun to use ;-). Can put you touch with a Hirer if you want (p.s. suggest you don't buy one second hand unless you know what you're doing. They get used HARD - believe me ;-)
huh!!??? wait a minute I replied to the first message and it has now gone!! and has been deleted! how strange!
The contract is worth £6000 a year so we think it is worth a new machine. This is all new to us so need to get as much info as poss. Thanks for the reply.
