I've seen guys with bikes and trailers but that needs capital as well! And limits you distance wise!
Try to be positive get mobile and go for it.
Have you thought about a part time job to raise some funds?
I too had a Landrover that I absolutely loved, but.... it frequently let me down, it's tatty image didn't appeal to customers and I couldn't get everything in it. I saved, scrimped, borrowed, took on a winter job and bought a 10 year old VW Transporter, best thing I ever did! More space, reliability and a much better image for attracting customers. 5 Years later and Ive just taken on a brand new one.
Landy's are going for a good price at the moment, think about selling it and take a look at a Transporter. A reliable van is just as much an important tool as a lawnmower.
Good luck.
I think the transport is your MOST important piece of kit!
As if any tools break there is always another way of doing something or at least something else you can do.
No van = no work
The "short list of customers that i have managed to salvage" + a dodgy Landrover + no "reserves" for these sort of emergencies doesn't sound too promising after 2 years....... Sometimes it's worth asking yourself if you really want the hassle of working for yourself in this situation or take an easier route of working for someone else which can be very tempting. If you really still want to have your own business, get shot of the Landrover and get a decent van on some sort of credit....... you'll probably need to spend at least a couple of thousand for something reasonably reliable. Good luck anyway whichever you choose.
I have made the desision to march through the next 2 months without any mot (max £1000 fine but £100 realisticly) bag as much cash as posible and get my self a mot/ tow bar /trailer and dedicate my self fully to making the business a sucess. Again thanks for the advice its always good to here other peoples points. I have 2000 flyers that will be getting dished out over the next 2 weeks. Due to being homless coming into the winter last year i hit rock bottom but spring is here and im on the mend i know its not the best starting point and i have not put my self in a grate position but getting out a hole can be a dirty job but a massive lesson.
Thanks
As said, with ANPR you probably won't get away with it. You've obviously had a hard old time of late and I do have sympathy there. Not sure a trailer and towbar are really the answer here....... tools are very vulnerable to being nicked and parking etc can be a right pain + you've still got the Landrover.... not ideal. Gardening firms will be looking for staff now so I'd go down that route. Save some money up and then if you like, have another go next year.
