  • My favourite on power tools was a fairly recent article advocating the banning of leafblowers because blowing leaves off grass will harm frogs.

Now maybe I've got this wrong but personally I think if you have grass that leaves you need to blow leaves from you probably mow it, and in my [sad and messy] experience hitting a frog with a quickly rotating blade is far more detrimental to it than blowing it over with a blast of air...

  • If its a little space then yeah, Perhaps. But if its a huge garden a leaf blower is key.

I could spend hours sweeping a garden or 5 minutes with a leaf blower. My customers WANT me to use a leaf blower because its quicker. They dont want to pay for endless sweeping. I use battery powered tools.

My leaf blower is not as powerful as the petrol powered ones and not as heavy, not as noisy and no harmful fumes.

  • battery leaf blower for me...never take a brush with me on jobs any more...quicker and better result and one doesn't feel like Trigger from only fools and horses

  • A brush will never be as neat or thorough as a blower.

The blower is the one main irreplaceable tool in my van. I could cut grass without a mower by strimming it, and edge manually without a strimmer. But no blower would mean my schedule becomes completely unworkable and I'd lose a load of money.

  • Good luck in the autumn Pete Jones, I'll stick with my blower if you don't mind - until they are banned!

    • The only brush I have is one to brush off my boots or when the earth is too stuck on the stones to remove with a blower.
