toro timemaster v toro turfmaster

I currently have timemaster.I love it for most of our sites but in wet and longer grass it struggles.Thinking of adding the turf master to business but only if more robust and capable of dealing with longer grass etc.Basically does the difference in the 2 machines warrant the turfmaster

  • One is a domestic machine, the other is a professional machine. The blades were originally better on the turf master in terms of profile. The turf master is very robust and modular, so easy to replace damaged parts.

There is no washout port, or quick stow handle. But it does have a long range tank, suitable for around 6-8 hours mulching.

It does have an extra bumper on the front, along with frame to protect the engine. Having checked the parts list the turf master has a different deck, along with protection bits on the edges on the underside, to stop it wearing and splitting. Basically the turf master takes all of the bits of the time master and up rates them for commercial use and adds a commercial warranty. They are different transmissions to.

From my experience the time master uses the same steel as the other homeowner toro with side chute and will quite possibly start to split under the side chute?

Longer grass - what are we talking about? I have mulched down 4" wet grass to 1 1/2" with it with a little struggle. Its not about what the machine can do, its how the operator uses the machine!

It would be worth you going and looking at the two machines, that way you can make your own comparisons. I certainly wouldn't have expected a time master to last me a season like the turf master has!

    • Hi james.
      Thanks for info.
I currently have a time master.
Do you have both or experienced using both the time master and turfmaster.
Really looking for actual first hand experience of users as i feel looking at specs of a machine can be useful but hearing from people who can compare the two after having used both most beneficial.
This is my second season where ill be using the timemaster i
.are you saying james you thought a timemaster would not last a seasons workload?
      • I do have the turf master. If you do a search there is a huge thread on it.

I know toro quite well and the variable speed drive. Depending on how many hours it is used for depends on how often things wear!! I certainly wouldn't expect a time master to survive more than two seasons of commercial cutting with me before replacing parts is to expensive. It isn't deisgned for it.

Where as my toro is showing no wear to bearings and other than replacing one belt everything is spot on. That's after around 200-250 hours with it.
        • Seems much sturdier tham timemaster.
I like the timemaster.for the speed (able to go as fast as you can walk with the design)
What.is the drive like on turfmaster?
Can you go at a decent pace?
Id get one out on demo but supplier i got from timeaster doesnt offer this.
i might look if anyone is renting one in area and try out .
  • Im looking to buy the Turfmaster shortly for a new contract which most of the grass needs to be collected and the large area we will use the triple cylinder which will 'sprinkle' the grass so its not as noticeable.

I was thinking if I should be buying a small rideon which collects as it justifies it with the size of areas but I figured the turfmaster ould be better as I can use it on other sites unlike a rideon.

do you really notice a massive difference as they say in cutting time, even with the timemaster?

    • We bought a Timemaster 2 years ago and it is fine for us.  Does not clear wet, longinsh grass that well, but as has been mentioned, much depends on the operator.  It has speeded up the process no end on some jobs and the fact that it will go as fast as you can walk gives it the nod over a smaller ride on.

    Hi all,

Today I went out and purchased a toro timemaster! I went in with the plan to get another Viking 6 series with mulch kit, but the price I was given on the timemaster
I couldn't refuse! Waiting to use it tomorrow!

My question is, does anyone use a striping kit with it? Had a look into them tonight, is the finish any good?
    • striping kit seems quite expensive for what it is!

How did you get on today??

Cut wet longish grass that isn't been cut since October, on the lowest setting, it's the first time I have ever mulched but, what a machine!

I payed £785 from my dealer, which was cheaper than a new Viking with mulch kit. I am over the moon with it! I have just bought a mulch kit which I'm trying tomorrow for my Viking, I think I'm going to be disappointed compared with the toro!
    • definitely got the time master then! Should have paid the extra imho for the turf master ;)

They do seem quite good in the wet grass from new but as they get a bit older they aren't so keen
