Tip of the day

If you're going to edge using your strimmer, under some palms with long scrappy leaves, make sure you pick up all the fallen leaves by hand first. When they wrap round the strimmer they're pigs to get out. Also if the palms are along the border and overhang the edges, I suggest you strim by hand around/under them for the same reason. Here speaks someone who had to dismantle the head in the field to clear the leaves, which when wrapped up are stronger than titanium it would seem :)

    If something wraps round the head I find it easier to cut it free with a pen knife rather than try to pull it out.

    • Sometimes I can unwind stuff if you catch the issue quickly. Otherwise you end up cutting it off :( 

  • same with some of the ornamental grasses

    • Learnt this very quickly in New Zealand as every house has some sort of Flax , ornamental grasses . A few minutes spent tidying was always well spent.
