Space in the garden. Slab/Concrete

Hi,

After finishing my deck last summer, im now left with a deciding what to do with the base.
Currently you step off the deck onto:
Next to it is a concrete base, 10cm thick.
To give an idea of the area this is how it looks:
Im open to suggests what to do. But i was thinking to concrete the area (138" w x 160" l) then put slabs on top.
Thoughts how to go about it, where to start, materials needed etc.
Thanks in advance

  • I suppose the first thing I would ask is 'what do you want to use the area for?' Personally, I think a random mix of old flags, bricks and gravel with planting and maybe a bench tucked away somewhere.

On another note and please don't take offence, but the steps look very dangerous to me and at the very least needs a hand rail or two.  But I would look at redesigning to reduce the riser height and increase the size of each tread.

  • It will be a landing area/somewhere to bbq etc. I agree though a mix of flags would be nice. How would you approach it?

No offence taken on the steps.
