Small grass shears

I have a client that has decided it would be really nice if they had small boulders / stones to edge their lawn, but, you can't strim between them. I purchased a pair of one handed lawn shears like the picture below, they are a perfect size but just don't work all that well. Any ideas? Normal shears are just a bit on the large side.

I hate it when customers have ideas like that without thinking through the practicalities. However it's their garden so what ever they want they get.

To answe your question I'm afraid that it's just a matter of trial and error. I've used all sorts and still resort to a strimmer with very very great attention paid to the usage of said item. I don have a very old pair of think they're called scissor shears effectively one piece of metal with a circle at the end which acts as a spring. I keep them razor sharp and they seem to do the job. But it's very tedious and hugely time consuming. Also kills my hand!
    • Sounds like you're describing my topiary shears?

mark these are what you need Bahco GS-76 Grass Shears, i tried 3 or 4 different types

and these are spot on for edging lawns, pruning potted plants and dwarf conifers,

the handle spins over too so you can cut grass....    Power Tools Direct .com3314733753?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

    • Ordered, be here Tuesday, thanks.

      • Great! Been using these through the week. Ideal for the fiddly items that some clients insist on having. They get where the long handled and regular shears will not. Thanks Mark.

I've got one garden with only 3 rocks near the edge and it used to take ages to cut round them for the same reason I just pick them up now and now and replace. Not helpful if there is loads though
    • I think in this case:

      1/ too many

      2/ may be too heavy

3/ likely to come across this problem again.

      ;-)

  • I bought a pair of Spear & Jackson long handled grass shears. They are light & cut well. Useful around small trees etc &............you don't have to bend down
