Resin bound gravel

What are your thoughts on resin bound gravel between raised veg beds and as pathway next to a lawn?It will get mobility scooter use along with dog and children running and playing.Don't really want to use slabs or block paving if possible

  • Anyone got any experience of this including the maintenance side of this

Not used it but there is some outside ALDI which is like an bumpy ice rink!
      • Oh really? I have some around the base of trees and it seems fine.

I am seeing it used more and more

I've used a couple of times in tree pits using the small kits and it solved a problem while looking good.

If there's bumps etc it's more likely an installation / contractor issue than a product issue (unless it's tree roots etc )

Installation could well be the problem this looks horrible!
    • How easy was it?? I know you have to use a force action mixer. It looks fairly simple to do

Very. We used 2off 1m2 Resin kits for some tree pits at a development we maintain. We used a throw away trug and paddle mixer and troweled with a wooden float.

It's moved a bit now (hence my comment about tree roots) but it's maintained its integrity which is what we wanted so no trip hazards.

Wouldn't consider a big job tho'.....

        • well its more for a personal job. I have done similar things, but never this. I have as many extra hands as required as its a large area.

I might have to redo some tree pits though so could be ideal to practice. Would probably use SureSet as we are looking to use over EcoGrids or similar.

          • Hi James, it sounds like a great idea. Make sure you don't forget the anti-skid covering on top to increase the slip resistance so the kids don't fall.

            • That is something I had planned. I'm just worried about soil being spilt and allowing weeds to grow etc, thoughts on this??
