I wouldn't have thought the 11mm difference this would make, which is very small, would affect the mowers performance however isn't it possible to just adjust the spacers/bosses to give you the same height as before just to play safe? I've never examined an Etesia..... if there's a gap between the chassis and the engine... can't the air escape through this, reducing the suction/blowing effect?.....just wondered out of curiosity.
wish i still knew the height of the original (briggs engine pbe46(anyone? : ))before i took the old engine off as i was pretty happy with how it performed. etesia has a gap under the engine already with this spacer in place as it sits on some rubber washers which create a 1.5mm gap all around the base of the engine. i think youre right about the air escaping from this gap though as i have read on a small engines web site that it is air flow underneath thats needed to create a vacuum and that most domestic mowers drop grass because regulations require that you cant design a mower that has room enougn underneath that you might stick your feet under it! ..doesnt apply to commercial mowers either... still dont know what the benefits of higher or lower set blade are.. not a lot of info online
Neil, we have an old B&S Etesia Pro 46 push mower in our yard.
What do you need to know ?
- the ht between the bottom face of the engine and the deck mount, and/or
- the distance between the bottom of the deck and the blade.
The air flow gap is vital .... Knowing those two measurements would confirm position ?
cheers gary-gap between the blade and the cutting deck bottom edge next time its handy : )
