Mobile card payments

I'm fed up with new clients taking ages to pay invoices by BACS transfer. I'm fairly trusting and allow invoices to be settles by cash, cheque and bacs transfer.Recently I can recall at least 3 new clients taking ages to pay, well past the invoice due date and with multiple email reminders chasing payment.I was thinking of stopping bacs payments for brand new clients as a lot are just one off jobs anyway.I am looking at a mobile card reader to get payments there and then for new clients on one off jobs,Does anyone else use them? Pros & cons? Also fees per transaction etc...Any help or advice appreciated.RegardsSteve

I wouldn't stop people from using BACS as it's free & you want to give people as many different ways as possible to pay you.

I collect a lot of payments online through my invoicing system - Jobber.

Cost 2.4% + 20p per transaction, it has been very popular. (You just need to work it into your cost).

I do not have a card machine as the majority of my clients are not in when i visit... Even the one's that are in usually ask can they pay later online...

    • Clients I work for regularly are no problem. I've had a a few one off jobs since Christmas where the client takes ages and ages to pay, to the point of ignoring reminders/texts phone calls and are worth quite a bit to me.

The only thing that concerns me with card readers is signal via phone. A lot of my work is in small villages that have extremely bad phone service and even lacking 3G via phone.
