I've never been a fan of bent shaft strimmers, much prefer the feel and working capabilities of a straight shaft machine..
        • I've got an FS50 which is nice and light, perfect for strimming the smaller gardens.

just bought a straight shaft 4 stroke honda . lovely machine. Will see if it outlast the 2yrs typical we get from a mid range stihl.

I've got a 15 year old one! It still starts on first or second pull. It's too heavy though.
Maybe the new one are lighter?
    • Jesus what are you doing to them ?  I got 12 years out of my last Stihl

The mini 4 strokes from Honda are just really reliable.
I don't know about the newer ones but this old one is really very heavy so an hour at a time max.
Maybe that's why it's lasted so long:-)
