I would never do it mainly due to two reasons.
Pictures can be decieving so give off the wrong pricing (mainly things looking smaller than they are etc. so looking more expensive).
Secondly I feel any prices with things like 'from £25' people will almost always assume that it will only cost them £25 whether due to mis reading or wishful thinking.
I always smile at the quote 'Special rates for pensioners' and always think they will be charged extra!
Exactly, commensurate with the time spent chatting. Pensioners still have similar sized gardens!
I used to be in that camp. My business cards still state the same but I dont do that anymore. Pensioners gardens are usually harder work, full of knickknacks where one has to watch where one steps etc.
I wouldn't.
Face to face or over the phone you can adjust a price or sound one out with a client.
If a potential client reads your prices, they may turn away, maybe not understanding, calculating a price incorrectly or just saying no to another faceless business.
By my thinking there is a bit of selling needed to get a job, use your website to invite people to talk to you, after all you are friendly and approachable with reasonable prices.......
It's not like we are selling diamond encrusted watches where if you need to ask the price you can't afford it.
I think it may stop some time wasters?
I'll let you know what happens if I get round to it:)
Thanks for all of your responses, some interesting points of view I hadn't thought of before. I was hoping to see a few comments in favour of posting prices too but it seems most are against.
One thing I did realise after posting is it probably makes quite a large difference what services you offer as for me, this question relates to fencing and I recon with a well made form calculator, I could estimate prices pretty precisely by asking 3 or 4 questions. If it was for grass cutting or garden maintenance, I can imagine it being a different ball game and much easier to give off the wrong impression.
