Wouldn't do it myself Phil.
First question is... What is it?
Second question....Where do I buy spares - even things like a pair of front wheels after an impact accident.
I don't take anything to a dealer to repair, all done by me so I need a supply of manuals, parts lists and a supplier, preferably in the UK.
Last year I rebulit a Honda GX25 engine from my HHH25. Parts are so expensive so I purchased from Antanker in China. Great to deal with, less than half the UK honda parts prices. Barrel, piston, gaskets, crank, most of the engine really. There was a problem with a couple of parts, wasnt' worth return time and cost. How would that work with an import?
Spares, spares, spares, how to buy spares for an import, that for me is the stumbling block.
Would also like to see one before committing.
I'm a bit confused Scott (don't laugh:). You ask where to buy spares yet you also say you bought spares successfully from China.
As Richard says....at that price it's worth a go.
Ha, yes I did but the penalty is time. A week on and off working out the parts I needed and which they could supply, maybe a week and a half for delivery, and then the rebuild and problem solving with parts that were supposed to fit and didn't.
As it happened it was a bit of a winter project so nothing lost really, but during full work season if I was to rely on a mower that I didn't have parts diagrams for and wasn't sure of parts availabiity and delivery, it just wouldn't work for me.
1 mower 1 strimmer etc ain't going to keep you working long!
Well it's not my only hedgecutter, but yes you do.
Still, buying the chinese mower would mean I have a use for it, so the point stands, where would I get spares from.
If there is some kind of UK spares network, maybe it is worth a go, if not, na, just not worth it. Bearing in mind a UK Izy similar spec can be had for £325, and is 9.5kg lighter, for professional use, why would anyone take the risk?
Sure, I didn't mean they are pro machines, just that they are used by pro gardeners and get a bit of a beating compared to those many homeowners that use theirs once every two weeks.
Be interesting to see if they catch on, all it takes is a couple of companies to bring a few in and users to give good review and many more will follow. Maybe someone will then import a container load of spares too :-)
I think it's quite a risk. OK perhaps if you have a unit large enough to keep standby stuff around but for me, I've only room for pretty much what I actually use. There just ain't room to sideline something for weeks.
Re the Izy. I've a 536 and it gets used every day in the season. Obviously I have a roller mower for the quality work but I have privately multiple rented properties and some commercial work that just needs the izy to fly over it. I really wouldn't be without it.
Import duties and shipping may make it not worthwhile though?
Do you guys think it's a genuine Honda engine? I'd highly doubt it myself.
