Whilst analysing my accounts I initially thought nothing of the £1k spend on unleaded fuel until it dawned on me that part of this cost is tax. I'm unsure of how much tax is in a £pound of fuel but I'm pretty sure that its justification is to maintain our road infrastructure. Given none of the unleaded fuel I've purchased has been used for machines that  go anywhere near a road I'm wondering if I can claim a rebate? I think probably not!

  • I thought the road tax was there to maintain the roads infrastructure............. fuel tax is there to pay the MPs salaries, tax credits and all the other benefits!!

    • 'road tax' was abolished years ago. Roads are paid for via general taxation and I think the LA put some money in to but I am not sure about that.
