I thought the road tax was there to maintain the roads infrastructure............. fuel tax is there to pay the MPs salaries, tax credits and all the other benefits!!
'road tax' was abolished years ago. Roads are paid for via general taxation and I think the LA put some money in to but I am not sure about that.
