hayter blade brake

Hello everyoneMy harrier bbc friction disc has broken into bits, and I'm told by my dealer that I can only get the whole clutch as a spare not just the disc.I read on Arbtalk forum that some John Deere mower bbc's fit the harriers, is that correct?Just asking for peoples advice and comments.Thanks.

  • The hours and money i have spent working on bbc's over the years have lead me to wonder if they are really viable for commercial grass cutting.
If you count the time and effort it takes to stop mowing, bend down, remove grass bag, unclog chute, carry grass bag to receptacle, empty bag, etc, etc. Then you may as well just pull a pull start when you continue mowing and do away with troublesome bbc's.

If your clutch is the same as one off a John Deary Me then it will more than likely be made by Warner. You can track them down on ebay if you look hard enough. I saw a new one on Italian ebay for £50 being repeatedly re-listed with no bidders. I think they are about £100 from USA. Check they are the same before you buy.

First one i came across, many sellers ship to the UK.

Just make sure you order the right one !

I agree with this. Adds extra weight too.

My biggest concern with having to change from Honda-type machines to Hayters is the absence of a BBC. My new repairer doesn't carry Honda parts, or like working on them, so it's Hayter next time.

I can't imagine having to restart a machine every time I empty the bag, let alone stop the engine every time I cross a gravel path. I've mentioned it before, but I do a site every week that has seventeen lawns seperated by gravel paths!

In c. 12 years of running the Honda Pros I've never heard of, nor had, a single issue with the BBCs?
