What about seeing if the local community could get involved them self with donations both money and plants etc etc and even see if there is a local youth club which would like to get the kids involved so it becomes a full comunity project and with getting the local youth's involved in it you could see about funding from the prince's trust

I'd ask the social housing landlords, they often have funding available for community engagement activities or area development.
Also, organisations such as these...

Thanks Ian, The community foundation are on our list to contact.
Sounds as if it would be worth contacting Groundwork. They did the Urban Oasis garden at Hampton Court last year and say on their website: "The Groundwork approach is to help local people to create practical community led projects then bring together partners from government, businesses and charities to make them happen." Community gardens are high on their agenda. http://www.groundwork.org.uk
Hi Graham,
I have just applied for a grant from the Somerset Community Foundation which hands out money to local projects where there is a benefit to the local community or those who are disadvantaged. Maybe you could contact them and see who the equivalent is in your area. Their website is www.somersetcf.org.uk.
Hope this helps you.
