Not too long ago a flexi tub would last me approx 3 or so months before it got damaged beyond use.
Recently ive gone through several in as many months because they start to split at the handles and then within a week are useless for all but the lightest of use.
I dont use them for carrying rubble etc, just the typical weeds and prunings and occasional compost, they now seem to be made of a much stiffer material than previously and as a result when you carry them in one hand with the handles squashed together they start to split at the edges of the handle base.
One i bought recently became damaged within 2 days!!
I usually pick them up as required from one of the DIY sheds or screwfix, but i might as well throw the money out the van window for all the use they are!!
Anyone else noticed the same issue?

Yes i have with the B&Q £4 jobbies some have only lasted a day! Not sure where else to look although i did see some gorilla ones which seemed better but then they were about £10 for the usual size.
Sure we had some from Eric Hunter's and they lasted, but agree they don't last like they used to.....
It suggests there's one supplier flooding the marketwith all the big DIY sheds stocking the same product.
The ones I remember were very flexible, almost possible to turn inside out.
Not sure if the craze for coloured 'truggs' makes the material more brittle ?
Same here - used to use them for mixing mortar, carrying rubble etc and they lasted, feeding sheep horses you name it, 2-3 years a bucket.
I stoped using them last year as same as you, they break within days or a week at most. I left one on my allotment as a "stone" bucket and in 3 months in the sun it became so britle you cant move it - it crumbled to bits. That was a Homebase one.
it seems to me someones making them dirt cheap in china and as Gary says - flooded the market so everyones buying them from this supplier and theire total crap
I've had the same problem regardless of brand, the original Tub Trugs dont last any longer than the cheapo copies. My local builders yard is selling gorilla trugs at the moment but the smallest are over £10 with the vat.
Its a lottery how long these things last one might last 3 weeks another might go a year with light use
We have two that we have made rope handles for with a piece of hose on for comfort. One is nearly 3 years old now, so possibly not one of the more cheaper made ones.
They come with two handles and are extremely strong.
I've got about 7 of them that I've had for over 12 years and they are as good now as when I first used them.
Can be used for storing sand and gravel but anything too fine will pour out of the holes in the base.
I have a couple of these for heavier items, soil, rubble etc and they do last pretty much forever.
Whats convenient for me about the flexi tubs though is being able to carry them in one hand, while holding tools/machinery in the other if need be.
always buy gorrila brand tubs the origninal and the best
