Do you offer bespoke wood products or services?

I know many LJN members build decks or put up fencing, or maybe erect sheds.

Does anyone actually construct,off-site, any of the projects they sell/install?

I've made these workshop doors over the last week of so. I hung them today. One of the advantages of making my own is that I could create doors to whatever size I wanted without having to buy off the shelf products.

Here I've reduced the size of the door opening and installed new doors that are much more practical and manageable. I made some enquires and to have a pair of doors made locally would have cost me €800-1100. If I'd worked on these continuously I think the doors would have taken just under three days to construct (that includes planing and thicknessing sawn softwood from the merchant).

      Nice Gary:)

Your chicken house looks substantial and well built.

How long do they take to make...how do you sell them for...surely not £100?

  • We have made a custom lean to for a client. Also a couple of log stores. Mainly for our regular customers. Grandad is a retired carpenter so learnt a fair bit and a friend was a cabinet maker so could really make some fancy things if needed.

Assisted on a freestanding arbour a couple years ago as a weekend project!

  • well make up virtually anything a client wants in wood, from play houses, sheds, to tables, gates etc. its a good earner and something I really enjoy doing, Ill post some photos when I get a chance

  • We're moving more into creating architectural pieces for gardens out of wood, one of my colleagues is setting up his own new business to deal with it as it is his passion. We've done some nice one offs like this cantilevered pergola:

We also built a cedar woodstore on the same job:

Chicken coops look brilliant Gary! I've noticed quite a few people selling art, like chainsaw carvings - though that's more arborists than landscapers. Guess it goes with the territory though.

Nice to have something a bit different to do at the end of the day too, especially if it brings in a few extra quid :)
