Three weeks ago we had two deliveries to the same client.
The first delivering natural stone in 1 tonne pallets turned up in a box van with a tail-lift. Not a problem with that you may think? The problem is that we wanted it placing at the top of a steeply sloping driveway with tightish access. We manually had to drag 4 loads on a pallet truck up the slope and the dopey driver even asked the female client (who had just had a baby!) to give a hand. Prior to this he had just reversed his van in to one of the steel posts of the electronically controlled drive gates whilst being directed! I said to the driver that I could not beleive that he delivers paving all-day without the use of a HIAB and he said that his boss reckons it does not warrant the investment....
The next day we had a delivery of 50 bags of cement on a pallet. The truck turned up with a HIAB as expected and the driver did a marvellous job of reversing through the gates and partially up the drive. He then proceeded to put his aluminium side to his vehicle down and leaned it against the £600 electronic door access box on a gate post, scratching it in the process. The client went berserk.
how did he get it to rear of /on tail-lift --------

The branch in question was I believe Marlow or one near by. I think it was a relief driver.
