Sam we have had the following delivered
As dug x 20ton loads £ 140.00 from Hatfield Herts
Screened 10mm from £ 10.00 per ton (various locations)
Topsoil/blend from £ 12.00 per ton (various locations)
For us;
Farnham SY/Fleet Hants:- 12mm graded - 20T delievered by 8 wheeler - £180+vat.
I think 6mm graded was about a 20% premium on above.
Del within 4hrs, price correct as of last week.
Do people concur that 1m3 of soil (in normal conditions) = ~1.6Tonnes (just checking my maths ...)
Small/part loads incur massive overheads (delivery wise), so perhaps that price is not unrealistic ?
same here (a bit less) about £14 i can supply for round here so £280 + maybe £30 delivery local max. £310 + vat.
nice soil that cheshire stuff too ive had it in the past.

Hi Everyone
This is really useful. I'll collate this and put a spreadsheet up of all the results in a few days.
Just for info and to answer some well raised points.
Im specifically looking at 20 tonne loads
Based on the official weight of topsoil which is 1450 KG/m3 this should be a 13.8 m3 load.
This would be a standard loamy topsoil with a "normal" moisture content.
If you working on 1.6 t/m3 its obviously a lot safer.
I think its useful to have recycled/ screened prices but can you trust the stuff in your gardens these days. Maybe possible in rural areas but as far as I know generally a no-no for growing purposes now in London.
I may put a similar notice up on the other groups and I'll let you all know what answers I get
Thanks once again
Sam
