compacted lawn

have look at a potential new garden maintenance job  today the problem is they have had the builders in doing a large patio, where they have wheeled in all the materials over the lawn (40x60 ft.) it has got really compacted and stones pushed into the turf and it looks like it is really suffering.

the other end of the patio is about 12 to 18 inch higher than the lawn and the soil (if you can call it that) that has been used to grade it in is full of stones lumps of clay never been worked to a seed bed then they have chucked a load of seed on

I advised her to get the builder back to sort it out

what would your ideas be for a remedy to this

In 99% of cases the builders are the best option as more, especially if it's a development

Usually I expect to find about two inches under the soil will be crap and it will cost an exorbitant amount of money to put right.

In most cases I tend to explain this to clients now, lawn treatments will help alleviate the problem however won't go near to fixing it.

I would be honest and frank with the client.
