Cobra RM46SPBR roller mower test

Hi everyone, I was given this mower 6 months ago to test and I have a question to ask ref its collection ability, this mower crams every inch of the grass bag full in wet or dry conditions, I am trying to understand why this mower fills the bag full but my Hayter 48 pro doesn't, looking on the underside of the cobra it has no plastic cladding, only the bare metal of the deck and hardly any residue grass material clinging to the underside, would this be why it collects so well???? If so why do mower companies put this plastic cladding on? For protection? Is it just because it's a basic simple mower that hasn't been over complicated contributes to it being such a good wet grass collection small mower? Would love to hear your views everyone, many thanks

The old hayters were fine for wet collection until they redesigned the model, the rear Chute used be full length now it's half the size, and quite high, Vikings & etesia pro 46 have a familiar design very low & more open and collect perfect..may be the cobra has that design of chute..

Check the blade design as well on the cobra against the 48..
Looked at my viking & etesia and both have hi lift winged type blades my hayter as pretty much straight blade, the blade design
Will also have a great effect on the collection..

Hi Mark , thanks for replying, yes the blade on the cobra is a winged high lift blade, chute though is pretty much the same size as my 2014 Hayter pro, I didn't realise that the blade would make such a huge difference. :-)

Blade wing tip angle is key for clearing grass from deck to bag. They've been reduced over the years due to noise and with less wing you require less power (ie cheaper engines/costs).

It is well worth hunting down old style non-oem blades, especially for Hayters (plus a bit of rev tweeking)

Going to track down some of the old style blades for sure now, cheers Gary
