cheers guys went for the viking !!!

after reading all discussions in respect of John Deere versus Viking, I went to local dealer and tried both, jd felt heavy and bouncy postion of handels bit like tesco shopping trolley !! vk felt great position turning and pick up,light, box exallant to empty,as people say,yes does look like a toy so what, its not about looks but performance. but well put to gether, see what the future brings ?? compared to a etesia 46 i have feels like the vk is a bmw and the etesia is a ford !!!! cheers guys......

  • Excellent idea as there is so much choice out there aimed primarily at the domestic market.
So easy to land up buying the wrong tool for the job and landing up having to make do.
Not every dealer is willing to let you try before you buy so feedback from those who work them . .invaluable

It's very easy to "big up" your recent mower purchase and justify your spend and try and avoid obvious faults and concentrate on the plus points. I'm very interested in all posts on machinery and their evaluations in the "field". i'm interested in the Viking range and have just ordered the 2010 brochure.

So Mark here's a challenge for you - a regular update on your Viking ( what is the model?) and how it performs in all conditions, practicality, wear and tear, plusses and minuses. Warts and all.

Perhaps everyone who buys new should build a log of performance on LSJ and we could somehow have a sort of buyers guide similar to the one Top Gear used to do......is that a reaslistic propostion?

If we are going to be able to make a judgement on what we all are going to spend our money on we need clear guide...a "What mower" guide. We are in the best position to provide info on this as we are the ones after all that run them day in, day in day out and not just at demo days.

Should that be a new post.....

    Hi Mark

It's good that you found the reviews useful.

It's always best to complete the review process on the original thread - that way, all the information stays in one place and is of potential use to others who might be considering the Viking mower of the John Deere.

I've linked the two posts together.
