I noticed a headline on HortWeek this afternoon that says Brexit set to make garden centre prices rise and features a short interview with Gardman chief executive officer Pete Utting.

The supplier of garden products reckons the falling value of the pound could push prices up over the next few months.

"The cost of gardening goods going into garden centres is going to go up drastically over the next two-six months," he said.

You might want to keep an eye on the price of your supplies in the near future.

Why drastically? More scare stories yes the pound has dropped as have the markets but they will rise again.
When we are actually out things may be different but we will have to wait and see.
Panic causes as many problems with the economy as the real problems do
  • yes on the flip side it might be good for british plant growers etc as it will push the cost of imports up...i have already considered possible price rises in equipment and have ordered a new stihl fsa90r cordless strimmer yesterday, as got a good deal on it and fear the weak pound may make it cost more, once increases filter through

It's expected that some large companies will try to bury overall bad trading performance against BREXIT as a 'cause'.

I just heard the Lloyds are making another 600 people redundant and on the surface it was blamed on the BREXIT / EU issues... until you research the news and find out they were originally spoken about back in 2014 and came as a result of the financial crisis of 2008-2009.

I can just see BREXIT becomming a scape goat.

p.s.Not a Farage supporter, but I loved the roasting he gave the EU parliment yesterday- hopefull some will get of their fat a**s and sort the EU out. Notice he had support there - so all is not lost
