Any unforeseen problems when running Battery kit?

Hi everyone, as some of you already know I'm switching across to running full battery kit for next season (except mower) and was wondering for those that run these types of machines day in day out already, are there any problems/issues I may stumble across? Many thanks Harry

  • I was in a loooong day of cutting back, took me hours longer than anticipated, and out ran out of power to finish off with the blower once.

Remember to charge all batteries at the end of day / overnight!!

Since then I've also bought another battery

We noticed the battery life is very site specific as we get less out of them on certain sites depending on what your cutting, blowing, etc.it could be what we have bought a mix of ego and sthil.

We don't have an inverter in the van so access to power at sites or at least most of them was a problem, it's a question I ask at quotes now.....

Generally we found the hedge cutters as good as the petrol or maybe even better, rest of it was ok for light work but I still need the confidence to spend big as we still would like to drop back back blowers and brush cutters but because some of our sites are huge I'm not sure it's practical.

Keep hedge cutter blades sprayed very regularly to prevent motor overheating.

You might want to hang on to a petrol blower just as a back up in autumn if you have any really big gardens with a lot of trees.

Would you mind me asking what spray you use on your battery machines? Is it like 3in1, WD40? Many thanks Harry

Thank you for all of your replies ,I reckon I'm going to be getting 2 backpack batteries so hopefully that will get me through the day, I wil be relying on charging them at night. I am going to keep hold of one of everything fuel machine wise, but the rest is getting sold, some of my properties are pretty large so yeah going to need to keep hold of the backpack blower for the autumn leaves, thank you for all of your advice, it's much appreciated, Harry

Maybe hold off on getting two back pack ones until you are sure you need both as the are v expensive if you don't end up using and I think it's best for their health that they get used regularly.

Agreed some machines are better with a standalone battery to lose the lead.
