I really hope i am able to go,
The Idea you propose about getting government to do more for SMEs is a good one, and should definately be on the agenda,
I think maybe a discussion about health and safety issues and legislations affecting our industry could be beneficial.
Another issue could be websites and internet presence, I know that not everyone finds it easy dealing with this side of business and maybe some shared knowledge on the subject could benefit us all.
I'm not experienced in these things, in fact this would be the first AGM of any kind that i've been part of so i'm sorry if i'm not on the same page as every one else lol :-)
Insurance, false claims and premiums!
Mine would be :
All companies to pay vat
or
vat limit to be raised
or
scrap vat limit ( not very hopeful )
can you imagine the lobbying power if all horticultural schemes joined together ? That's for a different thread though.
Young people - Gaining experience and the need (if) for qualifications - training.
Perceptions of the industry at large - Ie domestic public opinion.
Eg. Health and safety, or vat levels.
I think this AGM needs more clarification from the person organising it.
If your having a LJN AGM, then the subject should be LJN an ways forward.
Yes Steve, that's what I'd prefer.
Establish a structure i.e. steering group and we can move on to other business following on and throughout the year.

perhaps how to Use LJN to pool resources - For example say several of us want to buy a new piece of equipt - buy in bulk?
Using LJN to purchase services through - Such as Insurance and Training - LJN could make a cut of the money, we would benefit from suitable products.
Perhaps we are (I am) going about this the wrong way?
Maybe this first meeting should be a big melt of ideas which helps to formulate any ongoing agenda.
Start with a blank canvass and a blank sheet of paper at the meeting and determine at that point, what useful purposes the site can fulfil for the future?
I want to raise the issue of what a garden designer does, how we add value, why our costs are justified, how we can work with the other gardening trades to raise awareness of the value of what we all do. Wages in the horticultural sector are mortifyingly low. Anything that can be done to address this is a good thing. People will pay exhorbitant fees to architects, but baulk at paying reasonable garden design fees even when spending huge amounts on their gardens. Hope this is not too woolly, but you get the general idea.
If you're going to discuss these kinds of things I'm definitely interested.
Definitely a forum topic Linsey:)
