get an adblocker extension for your browser, i use "adblockerpro" for firefox, it's free and blocks 95% of adverts and you can even set it up to block more if need be
Thanks Ian- that's what I will have to do on my laptop or the other way I have discovered, is to use my husband's macbook!
thanks for the info. :)
Also, if they're Google ad's you can click on the little 'X' if you don't find the advert to your taste (it will try to match a better advert next time).
Ad-blockers are great but they're double sided in that they block any potential revenue for the site in question.
A very interesting point that you make there David about blocking revenue for the potential site. For now the Firefox adblocker is working but I will have a think about what you said. Thanks for the reply.

The revenue will only come if you click on the advert and go to the site. This is how google adwords works.

True, but if you can't see them, you'll never click on them thus preventing any potential revenue. :)
Ive used NoScript for Firefox for years, works a treat on ads, pop ups etc
I detest adverts, especially when they cause a page to load awkwardly and windows jump about, as all the info on the page loads into the browser.
Susan, I don't use McAfee but is there an allowed sites list that you can add ljn to?
erm. The adverts probably amount to fairy dust compared to donations? When was that last time anyone has made a donation to the site?
Or do the ads pay for the site?
