A hard winter to come?

I've heard tales, read articles and seen tweets that point to a long-lasting and early arriving hard winter for the UK.

Don't shoot the messenger:)

The Express published a story yesterday claiming that this coming winter will be the hardest in 35 years due to a phenomenon called the Polar Vortex.

The Met Office have today issued a severe weather warning.

Hortech have been gritting some sites from Birmingham up into Scotland.

There's even been snow in Paris today. Is anyone making provisions for an abnormal weather event?

I've been gritting the past 3 nights in Bristol.

  • and the summer will be the hottest we have ever seen. to be honest i take each day as it comes and never believe the daily forecast let alone long term ones.

having said that we always have a buffer of savings in the company to enable us to deal with problems that might come along. not easy to do but essential

Have a look at my post in the BOG. We are recruiting again for subcontractors within 50 miles of Heathrow who can operate plant - tractors, gators and hgvs.

I think I remember the Daily Express saying this the last two winters and for amazing summers. So I'm sticking to looking out of the window instead

    I really hope not!
  • Paul Hudson on his weather show always slates the express saying they never get it right even interviewed  the editor on one show and he said he was not concerned about getting it wrong, he went onto say by putting headlines on the front page increased his sales by 10%

I welcome a good cold winter, we need it in the gardens, last winter I turned up to a garden the end of January and we had green fly covering the roses, as much as it's not pleasant to work in all our gardens need a dormant/cold period..
