Ian Harvey replied to Rob's discussion Help with pricing graveyards
"I am as far from Essex as I could be, so no idea of going rates there. However, if income is £180/day, at 5 days/week, 30 weeks per year typical grass cutting only gives you £27k BEFORE expenses such as vehicle, fuel, repairs, replacements,…"

Rob replied to Rob's discussion Help with pricing graveyards
"Yes. I used to be £180  a day, buy was going to increase to £200.

Would you say that was about going rate ?

( Essex area). I really have little idea what others charge.

When I strim all the graves  and sides it takes approx  1 3/4 days.

Ian Harvey replied to Rob's discussion Help with pricing graveyards
"If it takes you a full day, then you don't really need to see the photos. If you can earn £x  per day doing other jobs, then that should be what you charge for doing the graveyard.  The extra cost of mower blades is balanced out by the fact that…"

"That's the bit that makes no sense to me, a.new one costs a fortune and lasts 5 minutes and an old girl is cheap as can be and lasts far longer and that's after it's done 20yrs for someone else before I've had it.
If the machines are genuinely worth…"

Kevin Bradnick replied to Kevin Bradnick's discussion Toro or Stihl Scarifier
"I went with the Stihl in the end, got a good price for it. It is a lot lighter than I was expecting but that suits me fine as like you it'll be only be used on a handful of lawns by me each year. I'm more than happy to have a go at fixing things…"
