How Long Does It Take To Create A Project With MGD?

Morning everyone!

One of the questions I'm asked most often (the most common query is "what does it cost?") is, "how long will it take me to learn the program and get a design?"

Well, here's the thing, the whole My Garden Design website has been created so that you can upload information from your phone as part of your site visit.  So - it shouldn't really impact on your day.

Let's say for example that you get a phone call from Mr and Mrs Jones who've just had an extension added and they want their back garden landscaped.  Yes, their budget sounds reasonable, so you arrange to take a look.

Before you go, you can set up a project on your MGD dashboard.  I asked Angela Lambert to time herself preparing to use MGD.  It took her 6 minutes to log in and set up a project folder. 6 MINUTES.  And in that 6 minutes, she also got a trade price and a RRP for the design service. That way, any landscaper can go to a site and explain to the client that it's not possible to quote for the work without an agreed design and the garden design will cost £x

Once the client has agreed to the design fee, you can take images of the site with your smartphone and upload them straight to MGD. You can also sit down with the client and a cuppa and work through the garden design brief.  It took Angela 10 minutes to complete the questionnaire - but to be fair, she didn't have a client with her - so you might want to allow a bit longer.  Of course, you could always download the questionnaire and hand it to the client in advance, that way they will have time to think about what they want you to build.

Next you'll need to upload the site measurements.  You'll be taking those anyway, so there's no extra work involved and it only takes a couple of minutes to upload your sketch map to your MGD dashboard.  Measurements of course need to be accurate but we don't need your drawing to be scaled.

Once you've submitted your design, our team will normally take less than 4 weeks to create a garden design - with your logo on it - and email it back to you.  Which means that your client won't be champing at the bit waiting to see some sign that you're taking action - and that means fewer impatient phone calls.

Read Angela's account of how long it took her to create a project on My Garden Design - and how easy she found it to fathom out the platform.

Seen this so many times over many decades in the trade, we always put our quote in writing specifying drainage, buried rubbish issues are subject to an extra charge to sort as they are not obvious on initial inspection. Has your son given a…"
