I am really pleased that we are getting the search engines picking up the content on our network so quickly. In less than three weeks and still with the minimum of content, what is written by us, in all the corners of the site, is being exposed to the search engine spiders. Check out this Google result for Landscape Juice and you will see that this network, hosted on Ning, has already been picked up - something that we might otherwise have had to pay a lot of money for an SEO company to do or wait several months for the 'sandbox' system to let us loose. Now is the time to start making this resource work for you by writing either to your own personal blog and adding your RSS feed here so that we can send traffic over to you or by writing directly into your blog facility here. So why does it matter? - Well, I am keenly interested in helping any one of you in building a greater business profile. To do that it is necessary to get as much content, written around you onto the net. Often is the case that forums start and all that tends to happen is members log in, look around, perhaps answer a question or leave a comment. This is great and I am delighted if we can all find a use and get a benefit in this way but, to get the best value out of the platform, it is hugely beneficial to add some personalised content. Maybe some before and after photographs with writing using locality as key words, materials used and maybe other companies who have been involved. The Landscape Juice blog, which I started nearly two years ago, is now very much liked by the search engines and I had a very clear vision when I started it. Firstly, I wanted to shake up the companies who had become stale and were failing to lead by example. I wanted to, and I am succeeding, to challenge the likes of Horticulture Week and landscape Association such as the Association of Professional Landscapers and BALI into being much more pro active in the way they represent their members. Traffic on Landscape Juice exceeds that of Hort Week and other established sites but they give the impression, because of their market status, that they are punching far in excess of their fighting weight. So that is why, your business, however small, should consider writing regularly to you blog or to Landscape Juice and enjoy the exposure it may bring. Good luck and I look forward to sharing some of your experiences. Phil

"Try and price per visit instead of hourly rate. 2-3 hour slots say to custumer £90-£100 per visit.
This will be half your day if you add travel to and from the job. Or have a minimum fee of x amount per visit. If a customer wants an hour or 2 it…"
