Left school in 1987 and joined the Cramphorn garden centre Y.T.S scheme. After completion I worked in outdoor plant sales and studied part time at Plumpton college for the city and guilds 2&3 in amenity horticulture, which I passed with credit. In 1991 I studied full time at Brinsury college for 1 year and was awarded the national certificate in horticuture with distintion, Pa1 & Pa6a certificate of competence in use of pesticides and student of the year in horticulture. After leaving college I gained employment with a franchised national garden maint company as a van supervisor. After 2 years I gained promotion to contracts manager and in 1996 was promoted to general manager in charge of 8 vans with 19 labour crew and 3 office staff. In 1998 the company became involved in a large poorly priced contract and craks started to show, a redundancy package was offered which I took and with that set up Reliable Grounds & Garden Maintenance. Now in my 12th year of trading and never been happier.
