Steve W's post prompted me to put this up for discussion and comments.

It relates to an incident at our Yard recently captured by our CCTV:

Take note of the 'apparent' age and the clear intent of going equipped (note tools & gloves). Our Unit & vans withstood the 'attack' due to security and our Alarm. That van to the right stood up really well, failing to gain entry using a crowbar.

This issue is with the Police as an ongoing investigation. They were very responsive and have only praise for their support and involvement. However they are limited in their efforts due to lack of evidence.

By the slim chance someone recognises the scroats, do let me know, we and the Police would love to speak to them.....:-)

That's why I share your pain.

There's more to this than I can explain at moment, but plan to keep the Post updated as I am able.

  • Bit scary really- no way were these opportunist thieves; they knew where they were going and what they needed to do the job. Glad your unit survived, and hope they didn't do too much damage trying to get in.

  • Having been on the end of thieves like these three times they to me are the lowest form of life we have in our communities...

    Think about it?

They steal from decent people that employ other decent people who work hard to gain the tools and equipment they need to make an honest living and these low lives come along and steal it to sell for a few quid in the pub. The knock on effect is to stop decent people working and providing for their families.

It is not the people that are at fault it is our justice system that makes no deferential between stealing a packet of biscuits and stealing the tools that a person needs to work with. Stealing a workers tools should receive a minimum sentence of 12 months in prison with no remission they would then think twice about doing it.

  • Actually seeing people creeping round with hoods up makes for disturbing viewing. Good luck in catching these people Gary. We recently got broken into and we caught the suspects on CCTV, seeing the act on CCTV made me feel sick to my stomach.

The system is completely wrong like Trevor says. Absolutely no deterrant for the scum who commit these crimes.

  • Now now Gary, you are infringing these poor lost misguided soles of their human rights by posting their pictures!

Having been turned over three times this year I have sadly lost faith in the justice system, the police do all they can but the court fails us all.

Only the other day, a landsacaper in Sandhurst, Berkshire had his van cleared out, a few days before a gardener nearby lost all of his hedge cutting gear, these scum bags know that if caught at worst they get a slap wrist.

Personally I would like to see all online selling site insist on proof of ownership before accepting to list the goods. And for good measure anyone caught buying stolen goods to get a criminal record FULLSTOP Take away the demand for cheap nicked gear will surely help reduce the the crimes being committed?

  • Been thinking more on this: it really f*****g p***** me off (not quite sure of LJ bad language rules!) that we all work so hard to make our living while others not only steal from others but they feel as though they are entitled to steal. What is it in people's minds that makes them think "can't find the job I want/don't fancy working, so I'll just take things that other people have worked hard to buy and make myself some money".

It genuinely would never even cross my mind to nick someone's stuff, as I'd expect nobody on here would do either. Rant over.

  • more than likely people who have been in your yard before due to them trying to avoid the camera (except the 1 lad who looks directly at it) not sure how it plays law wise but an extra camera/s at the entrance looking on to the road may catch them on film before they cover up

  • Hi Gary,
So glad they didn't get in. Not sure if it's me or the tablet that I'm using but I can't see the video. If any of the images are good enough, ask the police if they can publish stills of the images on their public website, our local force does.
Don't want to raise your concerns, but if you can beef up your security do it, chances are thay'll come back even better equipped. Again, the police may be able to help with marking up your property with security products.
Having spent a lifetime dealing with these sorts, my opinion of them isn't printable!
    Good luck,
    Keith
