We've tweeted the LJN link out on our Twitter account. We can only apologise that it's not a TOWIE or footballers account as you'd get more people seeing...sorry but we hope it will help even a little. Feel for you.
I'm really sorry to hear this. I know that you are vigilant with locking your van etc.
I will re-iterate my offer I made when speaking to you earlier. If you need to borrow any kit to keep you going I would be more than happy to help out.
Nick
Thanks, guys, and that's a very kind offer Nick. I now have all shiny new kit, which is a worry itself of course. Just spent an hour engraving it all with my details. Just have the mower to come early next week, and that's why I keep the old one as a spare!
The big concern is that they know who I am, and are waiting for exactly this, but seeing as it was in the middle of the day, in a crowded car park, the police agree it's likely to be people who aren't concerned about number plates on CCTV, so more likely the new travellers just up the road who are lurking in the supermarket. I won't say what I think on here....
It's a reminder that we should all only carry the bare minimum of kit, though. I could have left one hedgecutter and the chainsaw at home yesterday, but you get in the habit of loading everything "just in case".
Bastards, there's been a lot of break ins in North Essex recently.
Sorry to hear about your loss of kit, i know the upheaval that it causes to your business which is never compensated.
Thanks for the heads up though and i hope it is all sorted quickly.
Heard of quite a lot of tools and equipment being taken from sheds and garages but they are opportunists and I dare say they will take from vans given half a chance. , I've had several customers had things taken, in White Colne, Earls Colne, Chappel (builder had 5K of tools nicked in one night).
Be vigilant Samuel because all it takes is a couple of minutes or not bothering to lock your van thinking no-one will be around. And even locking it as the original poster is sometimes not enough.
Just really winds me up, most people are doing an honest days work and these low life are thieving. If I catch anyone taking stuff out of my van they'll feel the back end of whatever tool I have to hand.
It's certainly fast. They simply punched a hole under the side door lock, one hard wrench of the screwdriver and it's open. With a lot of twisted metal and a busted lock to replace.
With two people, and their van pulled across mine to obscure them, the police reckon under 5 seconds to break in, perhaps 20 seconds to chuck the stuff in their vehicle, and they're off in around 30 seconds. With practice (!!), they described it as "like an F1 pit-stop". Not something I appreciated....
What van do you have Paul?
Hiace panel van.
Of either the side door or back door, it releases the central locking
I've had dead bolts fitted because of this, some vans you can get a special
Hardened plate that goes over the handle,
