I forgot to add that I'm not anti-tattoo at all. I think they can be tasteful and attractive.
I just wonder how intimidating facial tattoos might be to clients and even other members of staff?
Facial tattoos are going to stand out from the crowd I guess. Ive got a few although none on my head. I saw a picture in the paper at the weekend of a guy with a man city premiership tribute tattoo right on his forehead. You could say 'who is to judge?' but simply, every human being makes judgements correct or otherwise on others from the second we see them.
Basically, I'd hire anyone with tattoos no problem but if they had a big display on their head etc which may distract from them as a worker and give customers a reason to judge them and my business then I'd not employ them.
No I wouldn't employ with face tattoo's would most likely scare the old dears.
my reply just deleted , but the end was ' you could turn up in a FORD transit' !!
you've started something here phil ;) ....
I'm personally not a fan of tattoos, on the face or anywhere else, but if they could prove they were good at their job, it wouldn't bother me.
i hope you don't have a fag hanging out your mouth, and a beer can in hand
. (joke) if you get me ? ! :)

It wouldn't bother me, I do have a couple of tats myself, but interestingly a friend of mine who had a lot of tats felt they got in the way when he had to take over the family business after his dad Died. He went out of his way to keep them covered when he was visiting customers, the company operated a small fleet of fuel tankers. This was back in the mid 80's. I think after all the TV coverage and personalties sporting tats they have become more main stream
Hi Phil,
If He or She can do their work without fuss and can uphold the companys standards, then they can turn up in a mankini/bikini for all I care.Anything that makes you stand out from the crowd is always welcome........ there might not be too many issues on getting paid on time either, wouldnt wanna send in the guy with the face tatoo would we? :-)
IF I had the choice of employing someone with or without a tattoo I would not choose someone with a tattoo, I abhor them..... but then I am of the older generation and am wondering how they (the tattoos) would look when the wearer gets wrinkly! Nothing to do with whether the person sporting the tattoo is capable or not, I just would not want to inflict a tattoo wearer on my clients. I know I am leaving myself open to howls of disapproval, but....
As Heike says, if I had a choice of two with similar abilities, I am afraid I would go with the non tattoo. Business is business and principals are for the individual.
