Do you have a Kombi system? Whether stihl honda or whatever. The professional grade tools from what I've seen/heard the strimmer/brushcutter attachments for those are rather powerful (certainly more than a fs56, the km90 is an fs90 but with a split shaft, and the largest kombi system the 130 is almost twice as powerful) certainly enough for brushcutting. FS 240 (which is the next one above the 130) are more suited for shredder and clearing saw applications along with brush cutting so unless you're getting those out quite often for brush cutting it's not really worth the investment.
If access is good you could hire a pedestrian flail or ride on brushcutter to do the job.
What sized area are we talking ?
Thank you for the replies. Not sure on the size as i've yet to visit the site, but they say its the size of 2 allotments, are they a standard size ?
I own the combi system but not the strimmer attachment, so i will look at that, but are there any other makes to look at ?

Rob

Looks good to go.
If you do buy it you need to see if the bottom of the bump head still works. Also to open up the cylinder and see if it's scoured or not.
best to do it with a metal blade rather than a line as if its long stuff it will keep rapping around the head also you don't need as much power unless there is saplings in it
Spray the lot with Round-up couple of times a year....... much simpler. If its not going to be used for growing anything, perhaps you could use a residual herbicide.
Thanks again folks. I'm a bit unsure about buying used equipment via ebay, as there does seem to be a lot of thefts of our tools of the trade.

A lot of it has had a real hammering having been used commercially for a couple of years.......from previous posts, some forum members will sell on equipment in this way which is fair enough. Buyers often imagine that buying something a couple of years old will suggest it has only had light use. If you look carefully, you can sometimes find a good deal where a machine has just been used for light domestic work. Sellers feedback which will often indicate whether a machine has had commercial use, domestic use, if its a dealer etc. It often surprises me the price some people will pay for a used Stihl item.... a BG86 bpower for example, when a discounted new one can be bought for perhaps £50 more.
