Music you work to

I have spent all day at the drawing board designing a large rear garden.itunes on my Mac dutifully played a constant loop of 'chill out' music because today that floated my boat. Tomorrow it may be grungy, pop, rock, electronic or there might just be silence. What music gets your creative juices flowing?

  • At the moment (and because we went to see them before Christmas) it's the Kings of Leon, but like yourself Kerrie I listen to loadsa stuff. The problem I have is that I can get too tuned into the music and then I'm itching to pick my guitar up and bawl the neighbours out! Classical music is good because it keeps me interested without drawing me too far in.
  • Luckily (for the neighbours) I don't play guitar, but my youngest son does very loud electric heavy metal (sorry neighbours)!

I too play classical but it usually when I feel I have 'nailed' the structure and am calm and know where I am going with the garden.

I am going to be a real bore here.

I love silence when I am working :-0)

Sometimes I will have some classical music on when working, otherwise I like to 'think'.

I went into the woodland this afternoon to cut some fire wood. Although I was using a chainsaw for much of the time, I really relaxed when I turned it off and just listened to what the woodland interior was saying.
  • Silence is very good stuff if you can find total and does make you focus.

Can't say I have every had a chain saw going at the drawing board though.
  • I very often plug the ipod in when out working, stick it on shuffle and all sorts can come out ! jack johnson to metallica.

Like phil though, I find I can't think/concentrate with music on while trying to do quote etc.

Oh to be able to pop down to the wood to cut some wood for the fire..(very jealous) stupid gas fire !
  • Yeah if I went into the woodlands in Glasgow it's more than likely I'd be getting chopped rather than the wood! Just kidding. Radio 1/Radio 2 on site, otherwise the strange brew of random conversation and silence becomes tedious. In the office it's iTunes or my daughter telling me she wants to draw/paint/sing/dance on or at my desk!
  • Just lately I have mostly been listening to Dick Gaughan, Dixie Chicks and Barclay James Harvest.......when I really want to get stuck into something I like church organ music.
I have a large flock of house sparrows living just outside my office and the music they make is pleasing in a funny way, I enjoy that too.

    Hi James

No, this is solid winter fuel which is essential at the moment.
My next project is a set of stairs for my house :-(
