It really has been an awful spell since Christmas. We have a fair bit of Commercial work where we are able to work from hard surfaces. Up till now we have not been round many of our private customers because the ground is far too wet to walk on. All have had a covering letter with their January invoices explaining the situation.
Yup, for general 'winter tidy', prune/hedge trim etc.

We will generally try to work on unless its very heavy rain, we had to finish up at about 11am today as it was just miserable. Ive found that a lot of our clients don't want us coming round when the weather is too bad so we get quite a few reschedules/cancellations due to it too. This winter has been especially bad. Im in the process of building a shelter for the tractor and logsplitter down at the yard so we can still work away at the firewood, even in torrential rain.
I second what Andy said about keeping off the ground. Try and speak to your clients about other jobs you could be doing like Pressure Washing. Luckily I have great clients who are all on contracts that understand any time lost now, will be made up in the spring/summer.
Most of my work is fixed price but we have a few hourly clients.
