First Show Garden Wins A Bronze Award

Congratulations to Fiona my partner of Damson House Designs, her first show garden at Harrogate has won a bronze award. The garden, 'Exploring Biophilia' forms part of her final year in her Garden Art & Design Degree at Leeds Beckett University.  The garden had no hard landscaping, just plywood for the sinous curves.  Plants were sourced from Dalby's Nursery near York, Metcalfe's near Pickering, Summerfield Nursery near York and Henley's Nurseries near Market Weighton.  Garden metalwork sculptures were loaned to us by the splendid Saltbox Gallery of Helmsley.

Thanks go to Rolawn and Green-Tech who were life-saving late suppliers of soil and turf.

Cool & well done. I saw some of the Tweets clap.gif

To win a medal is a major acheivement.

It's easy to under estimate the time, effort and stress to generate a Show garden and have every admiration.

Thanks Gary, a real eye-opener and vertical learning curve! Ouch.

I would echo Gary's comments - it is all to easy to under estimate the time and effort (and money) that goes into creating a show garden.

      Well done!

Thanks Nick, we've both gained a very REAL appreciation of the effort required

  • Well done!

I like the plywood retainer. Its very different but actually works really well.

Thanks James, it was tricky bending it.

Plywood in its natural state, showing the grain was in keeping with the 'biophilic theme'.

      • I am sure it was, what thickness did you use? I would assume 9mm?

  • Like the idea for the theme too! Well done!
