  • Thanks Joan.

  • Rob, who laid them, tells me he used a dry mix of sand and cement - just strong enough to hold them.  They will also be supported by the gravel, as it is well compacted.

    The bricks are modern pavers.

  • They look nice bricks.  One thing given my ignorance - how do they stop moving about?   Are they cemented underneath or does the gravel stop them?

  • Hi Jane.  Thanks very much for your kind comments.  Glad you like it. The gravel and brick mix does help drainage, but you are right - this is  back garden.  The paving was primarily designed to fit the client's budget and taste.  A bonus was that the gravel helped eke out the pavers that were available from a salvage yard.

  • I love the brick and gravel paving here.  Does that make it drain better to comply with SUDS?  (Or is that just front gardens that need to comply?)  Anyway it adds a nice texture.  And the green is restful.
