The whole Horse fly

Here's the Horse fly - I believe this one had just emerged from thepupal state - that's why it's in perfect condition.....also perhapsthe reason it has excreted on the leaf....cleaning out it's internalsbefore it's first blood meal.

    Lovely picture! Remember riding my horse in the village years ago, all quiet and peaceful, at one with each other. Then one of these horrid things would sting my mode of transport - we were off...... big time. Took ages to get home from the fens for supper!!
