Sleeping Owl

Lucky to spot this sleeping owl - before it spotted me - whilst on my walk this morning. It was in this very pigeon hole that a mother kestrel hatched and reared four young last year. Busy place.

    Taking dogs for a walk earlier a barn owl (the same one?) flew from this same hole. It's probably not secretive enough for a female to rear here chicks but I hope she does.

    This is the very same pigeon hole where a mother kestrel raised five young, two years ago.

    Taken using (crappy) zoom on iPhone 4 so quality not brilliant.

     

    I was flabbergasted to see the length of wing span when it flew out...I couldn't quite believe how it managed to squeeze itself in.

     

    I'm just hoping it's a mother owl and she is raising young in there - I'll keep an eye on here.
