Edwardian Villa with a Large Paved Outdoor Space

A contemporary Mongolian slate patio formed an extension of the modern family kitchen. The steps and retaining walls were clad in the same material and wall seats were created. Large planters, with clipped spherical Box, were placed on the walls of the main steps to create a grand entrance to the garden. The remaining garden was rather overgrown, with shrubs and trees beginning to encroach into the space, so these were either removed or cut back to give a more open aspect. A wooden structure, placed over the path, helped to define how the pathway moved through the garden.
