  • You're welcome!

  • This is really helpful Sophia, thanks for. Such a thorough response. High I costs and low flexibility seems to be a real issue, especially when I am so used to drawling things out myself.

I shall follow things up on google and Sketchup.

    Th asks again

  • As to cost; it's available at a monthly License from Adobe, not too pricey, and may also be available from the App Store as a package.

  • Hi Paul,
This is Adobe Illustrator. Not a specific landscaping product, but a design product. I use it for everything: my logo, letterheads, presenting photo concepts. In conjunction with Adobe Photoshop, it could be all you ever need!
I've created quite a lot of my own textures and features, to scale; there are quite a few out there just for the Googling.
I haven't worked up my skills to do quick perspectives using it (I just hand sketch over photos), and I suspect that SketchUp would be better for 3D anyway.
I've looked at specific landscaping software and find that the costs are high and the flexibility low, or such as Vectorworks are comparatively clunky and don't produce elegant drawings.
Obvously, this doesn't do anything that the top-end landscaping programs do to help with planting specs; one just has to count the plants very carefully and make a manual table.
For speed of getting going, and cost, I think Sketchup is very popular (get in touch with Paul Hensey for tuition), but it often looks mass-produced, less artistic.
I can't help but want to produce beautiful plans as well as gardens! I think that stems from starting with pen and ink and tracing paper...

  • Regarding costings, not coatings!
  • Hi Sophia,

I love the professional garden design, especially as I have tried very hard to find a relevant programme myself that would help me design gardens for clients. I have an Apple Mac. What programme would you,or any member, suggest? Is this programme available for Apple Mac ?

I would be very grateful for any help or advice regarding coatings, their user friendliness and accessibility.

    Many thanks

    Paul
