  • do you know the little trick for identifying the Cornus family? take a leaf and gently break it across the main vein - you should be able to pull the 2 parts of the leaf apart, while almost invisible threads extend from the veins to keep the 2 parts connected - it's my only magic trick!

  • That is exactly it, the tiered effect it is a beautiful plant as you say, it really stood out with the surrounding plants much lower.

  • Looks like Cornus controversa Variegata commonly known as "the wedding cake tree" through it's tiered habit of growth.

     

    A beautiful plant, looks better as it gets older.
