Sun Flowers at sunset

The sunset was just so magical and I had to stop and take a photo of this field of Sunflowers (Tournesol in France) as we drove into Castillones.

    Sadly, we've no sunflowers immediately around us this year but the wheat fields have made of for it in their own way.

    It's an absolute delight here in the summer and I usually have sunflowers growing right up to the house (we have wheat this year and barley beyond that).

    The only problem with sunflowers (as lovely as it is) are their short flowering window; brilliant when at their best but after, as the heads dry out, it looks like the aftermath of a nuclear blast.

    At least the wheat and barley fields have that transition through the stages of green and turgidity to golden brown on balmy autumn days:)

    ...I've just read what I have said - I don't mean to put you off sunflowers:)
