Her home boasts two roof terraces and she was keen to have them updated to reflect the interior. The terrace adjoining the living space features out-sized planters and an arbour structure which provides storage and additional seating as well as framing artwork. The existing decking is stained to give it a more contemporary appearance and the walls are painted a deep blue acting as a foil for the planters. The view from this terrace looks onto the City Road Basin of Regents Canal and so the design aims to leave the view open. The planting is architectural and low maintenance. The terrace adjoining the kitchen utilises the balustrade railing attaching multiple troughs in which herbs can be grown. These troughs also help to mask the view of a dull roof top beyond.

For further information visit ironbutterflydesign.co.uk

New Build Garden 7 years on how are the materials lookinghttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profiles/blogs/new-build-garden-7-years-on-how-are-the-materials-looking2011-11-10T12:30:44.000Z2011-11-10T12:30:44.000ZRICHARD BICKLERhttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/RICHARDBICKLER

We carried out a substantial new build front garden in early 2004 in Whetstone North West London for a semi-retired couple on behalf of a fantastic designer Paul Collins who is sadly no longer with us and the results of his excellent design and the landscaping installation completed by Arbour Design & Build stands out to this date.

We removed around 100 tons of earth, concrete and debris over the 2 month build, rebuilt the drains, installed oak and brick retaining walls and laid the paving, driveway, planting and installed a simple irrigation system that needs little or no maintenance apart from the spring start up and winter shut down.

The clients have always been delighted with the project and they tender the garden themselves as they love the natural look especially the way the materials have weathered.

When I visited recently I took some photos (see attached) and thought why not review how the materials have faired over time. The designer specified Marshall's Chancery Random Rectangular Paving in Grey/Green, Tegula Deco Cinder for the paths and Claypavers for the driveway and apart from needing a little clean I think they are looking good.

So the question to you all is, if you currently look after gardens that you have built say 5+ years ago how are they looking to date. Would be interested to know what materials have been used, how they have faired and what recommendations would you make in trying to keep the materials looking as good today as they were when they were installed.

http://www.arbourdesign.co.uk

NEW WEBSITE LAUNCHEDhttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profiles/blogs/new-website-launched2011-07-01T14:09:22.000Z2011-07-01T14:09:22.000ZRICHARD BICKLERhttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/RICHARDBICKLER

Arbour Design & Build are proud to announce that the new website has now gone live, please see for more information on garden design, landscape construction and garden maintenance services undertaken by Arbour Design & Build.
