The show was much smaller than the last time I went, lots of the same old stuff (read tat) but did see one or two interesting new things, well two actually.
I heard a buyer from a garden center on the bus saying that he felt sorry for people who had arranged to visit for the three days as they would be twiddling their fingers for two and a half of them!

Had I known Ofer was there I would have made a beeline for him, sorry Ofer, Just had to get away .
I did Bring home with me the info on the black Stargazer table, thats it. 99% down on last years new data brought back.
Got off the train at 12.20, caught the 16.11 home.
Feel sorry for the 17 exhibtors in the landscape hall.

Glee review 2009
Talking to some press acquaintances there, confirmed what many observers are picking up on- the migration of exhibitors & visitors to far more focused Shows/events.
In no sector was this more pronounced than in landscaping. The biggest exhibits were the ones focused on the DIY end of the business, bagged aggregates etc for the Garden Centre trade-the core business of GLEE. Though a remnant of other hard landscape products were represented, the inevitable drift to focused shows seemed irresistible- roll on the HLS!.
I certainly don’t want to criticise Glee; its own refocusing on what it is about, should strengthen it from the huge analogous mass it had become.

It could be great and I was looking forward to see some of you - I actually met two and it great.
For me the show was good- I decided on the last minute to take it as I got a good price and the manufacturer paid half of that.
True everybody said that it was much smaller (first time for me) - As I had not any marketing -I had to grab people to my stand sometimes -
I got lots of contacts with mail orders firms all around the world, few distributors and garden centres that showed intrest and about 3-4 garden designers.
I met few that came to copy ideas- in total seems good.
heard that planning a new show at june 2010 instead I think with the hta and so but will see.
next time we should all speak before and meet.
there was one even embracing part that we were 6 exhibitors should have a speech about new products but there were no buyers at all so the organizers had to ask on the speaker if buyer will come just to show support.

A June show seems a bit worrying though as landscapers should be too busy to go then.
